Billing/Collections Specialist Job Description: ● Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them professionally and warmly. ● Ensure all necessary and applicable paperwork is completed and uploaded into patient charts for billing and collection purposes. ● Answer, screen, and forward all incoming phone calls, faxes and emails while providing basic information when needed. • Scheduling appointments • Assist with rescheduling or canceling appointments as needed • Calling patients to confirm appointments • Interacting with the clinicians for proper patient flow ● Assist with Insurance Verification for patients. ● Copay and other patient payment collections and posting. ● Record Transactions/create deposit. ● Contact insurance carriers as directed by Billing Supervisor to facilitate reimbursement for services. ● Contribute to team effort by performing other clerical duties to include but not limited to: filing and organizing documents, photocopying, faxing, basic office organization, etc. ● Responsible for learning and applying all company policies and procedures ● Responsible for keeping up with changes in insurance policies and procedures. Summary As a Billing/Collections Specialist, you will be a vital asset in managing medical billing and collections processes efficiently. Utilizing core skills in medical collection, EMR systems, and medical coding, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate billing, resolving payment discrepancies, and following up on outstanding accounts. Your premium skills in DRG, CPT coding, and ICD coding will be essential in navigating complex medical billing procedures and maximizing revenue for the organization. Qualifications - Medical collection experience - Proficiency in medical office operations - Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems - Strong understanding of medical terminology and records - Knowledge of medical coding practices including DRG, CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 - Experience in medical billing processes (EZ Claims and Athelas programs are a bonus!)
